Sunday October 15, 2006. Photos and captions Greg Hayden. I came in on the tail end of this project. Under the supervision of Volunteer Myrna Bagge -- visible in the background of the top two pictures below -- serving a few cold drinks to Volunteer cookie tasters.

The Fraser sisters already had two picnic tables covered with cooling cookies. And were washing a large stack of mixing bowls and baking sheets. Green shirt is Toni Fraser age 11, light pink shirt Amanda Fraser age 9 and dark pink shirt Alyssa Fraser age 8.

Each summer we grow an irrigated sorghum cane crop. Follow this link to see October 2005 sorghum harvesting and processing. These cookies, made from our 2005 crop, will be offered free as samples to our show vistors; while they view this years demonstration. In the picture below right, you can see two cookie sheets cooling atop our antique, bottled gas, kitchen stove; where these cookies were baked.

As a Volunteer cookie taster I must say that they are delicious. Many times molasses cookies have a strong molasses taste. And an after taste. But these cookies made with our Sorghum Molasses have a faint molasses taste. Very pleasing. I told Myrna that I doubted I could eat more than maybe a couple dozen. They are VERY tasty and filling.
