Spring Harvest Fair June 21 & 22, 28 & 29, 2008
Fall Harvest Fair October 18 & 19, 25 & 26, 2008

The two pictures above, taken by David Denny, show Missouri Sorghum Company volunteer Myrna Bagge with show visitors. The following twenty-two pictures were taken by Summergrass Camping Co-ordinator   Jerry Hass.

The two pictures above show our Sorghum Cane crop just before harvest. It is grown by members of our Tree and Garden Club Chet Rapenport, Keith Richards, Paul Kuns, Myrna Bagge. They plant it and water it and feed it and weed it and more often than not harvest it. Though there is a growing number of people who help harvest. Ever wonder what harvesting cane is like? You have seen movies of folks in Florida and Hawaii and Cuba harvesting cane. Bend over and grasp stalk near the ground with one hand and whack it hard with the sharp machete in your other hand.

Top left: Picture taken looking South, from our Pumpkin Patch, across the remains of our Cane Crop. In the distance you can see smoke? Steam? And the outline of a black object. Top right: This is that distant black object. Museum Owned 1902 16 HP Advance S/N 6744 straw burner. Ably engineered by age 25, ten year Museum Volunteer & newly elected -- January 2006 -- Trustee; Jake Williams. Behind the cane press is the North end of Steam Engine Row. To the right our new INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH steel Boiler House. It has STOUT, full width, commercial roll up steel doors on both sides. The tan building with the white roof, that crosses the South end of Steam Engine Row like a T, is our not yet completed Weavers Building. 2005 our Museum had FIVE Open Construction Permits. FOUR were closed in 2005.

Top left: Green Cane makes thin light green syrup. Top right and Lower left: That is Virgil White. Virgil is an early -- # 174 -- Museum Member (versus my 6412) and this is one of his Displays. Among? Perhaps? 42? 45? 49? 'Other' pieces of equipment Virgil has here to support our Museum. Lower right you can see a better view of our new INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH steel Boiler House, to the right of the North end of Steam Engine Row. If you want to see the boilers? Go here

Top right and below left: That is Sharon, Mrs Virgil White in the red top. Myrna Bagge in green. In the distance you can see our Short Track Model Railroad 5,200 square foot -- 483.1 square meters -- Section House.

That is Paul Kuns, below, wearing the bright color Ask Me button on his hat. The sorghum syrup is filtered and skimmed and cooked down into familiar golden brown Molasses, then aged under refrigeration for a year, before being canned and offered for sale at our shows & in our Gift Shop. In the background some of the Frazer Family truck collection.
