8:00AM. Setting up.
Dave Casey, above, asked me to take a picture of him in his Fathers Day Assistant Cub Scout Den Father uniform. His wife Janet is
Chief Cub Scout Den Mother. Dave also told me he would be disappointed if I did not post his picture here. Don't want to
disappoint people who drive 1,200 miles one way to help us with show. Dave and Janet live in Del Rio Texas. Dave is our
Extraordinary Sound Man, bringing 800 pounds of sound equipment with him. Dave said next weekend he will wear his
Fireman Uniform. June 30 Update: after Dave read the above from Del Rio he emailed me:
"I am actuality the Cub Master and semi grand Pooh-Bah of Pack 272 Del Rio Texas. Janet is a den mother extrodinar and
runs the wolf den."
Below that is Vista's Grace Covenant Church Pastor Dennis Bone officiating at our non-denominational 8AM
Sunday service. This is Pastor Bone's eleventh year with us.
Below: This engine display is right inside our front entry gate. I took many more pictures than this. Flipping through
them I can see the machine moving. This is a practical gadget, but doubt I would use one more than once or twice a week. I just
stomp on them.
Below left: left to right: Trustee President Jeanette Stevens back to camera facing Julius Schnell, center, and
Trustee Steve Stipp. Below right: left to right: Julius, Jeanette and Virgil White. Julius uses this yardstick,
that is the same length as our D8 seat, to measure prospective D8 riders posteriors, to see if they will fit with him.
Above: Pre Parade Slow Tractor race. Once launched operators are not allowed to touch anything but steering.
The object of the race is last across the finish line wins. I have seen this scenario where the tractor in the lead
wins, when the obvious winners tractor engine stops. Below Slow Tractor race between Virgil White's Catrpillar D9 and one of
our two Museum owned Caterpillar D8's operated by Julius Schnell. Below right: Trustee President Fund Raiser Floozy
Jeanette Stevens rides with Julius.
Above left: Miss Vista rides with Virgil. Above right: it looks like Julius is winning, but since Virgil does not
have a blade, they actually are track to track. Below left: And the winner is? A tie. Well, I guess we are just going to
have to run this race again. Below right: And let our Parade begin. Vista Boy Scout troop 744 carrying our National
and Boy Scout colors. Troop 744 is sponsored by our Museum.
Above left: Framed by the flags, our 1919 Altman-Taylor 30-60 is our June Show theme tractor and leads our parade.
Above right: Byron Whitehead engineering our Museum owned 1898 12HP Russell. I cannot see who is with him. Below left:
Mark Rottman. Below right: I do not know the name of our Volunteer operator, but I know where to ask. That track and
it's tracked trailer are owned by Julius Schnell.
Above: The McCune Family. That is Grandpa Frank McCune leading the parade on his garden tractor. Behind him is his son
Paul, behind Paul another John Deere, but behind that -- above right: is Paul's wife Colleen McCune on another green and yellow
tractor. Below left: This young woman was at Stanley Forakers 9AM Saturday childrens driving class. Below right:
Robert Richardson and Eric McConnon operate our 1912 Museum Owned 60HP Case towing one of our hay wagons.
Above left: Guajome Gulch Mayor Jack Fraser takes family for a Fathers Day spin. Above right Trustee President
Fund Raising Floozy Jeanette Stevens and Julius Schnell on one of our two Museum owned Caterpillar D8's. Below left:
Free Children, You Pick. Below right: Carol and Scott Higgins operating their 1916 16 HP Russell tow our Old Thresherman
Cook Shack.
Above left: Carol and Scott Higgins again. Above right and below: Joan Hollenitsch wielding her frying pan chases
Chicken Thief Patrick Myers.
Above left: All Aboard! Engineer Scott Higgins, left, makes sure everyone is back on board before Continuing our parade.
The Wild Girls -- Betty Keylon and Joan Hollenitsch in our cook shack, right on the back steps William Truman Peck aka
Abraham Lincoln Above right: Travis Durst and John Alling
operate our 1902 Advance. Below left: Even in these days of pricey gasoline Pat Mackin, left and Rich Eckert drive 400 miles
one way from Prescott Arizona to help us with show. Steam Teamer Alex Comerchero hitching a
ride behind them.
Above left: I believe this woman's name is May? She and her husband went out to eat at Famous Dave's with a group of
eight of us the week before show. Above right and below left: Here comes our Trustee President Fund Raising Floozy
Jeanette Stevens again. Below right: Dean Alling and Nick Rose tooting Dean's 1920 Minnie whistle.
Above left and right: Mike, Mr. Jeanette Stevens. Below left: Power Horse. Below right: Stanley Foraker.
Above left: another view of 1922 Dodge Brothers farm truck. Above right: Virgil White drives his 1924 Mack model AC Bulldog.
Below: I missed this Saturday, but was ready Sunday. George Bohn substituting as a Palomino horse for Julie Rathbun. Please
see Fred Rathbun Memorial Page for a picture of Julie and her husband Fred on their Palomino horses.
Above: more pictures of George Bohn and Julie Rathbun.
Two more pictures of this McCormick Farmall Cub converted to a crop sprayer. The driver demonstrates proper spray attire.
The driver says it works just fine. Below: This ... ugh ... plain woman? has been dumping her? Honey Bucket on our parade route
for years.
Above left: Cheeeeeeeeeeeese Burger Jack Lester demontrates our raffle tractor. Below left: Now Patrick Myers is nicking
wine. Below right: Betty Keylon's son Jack operating this weird tractor. When it is put in reverse the back part where Jack
is sitting raises up in the air about a foot. I have been trying to capture a picture of that for years. So far this is my best,
the rear wheels slightly off the ground.
Above and below: this LARGE shiny red pickup truck has been in our parade before. An addition, above right and below
left is our Trustee President Fund Raising Floozy Jeanette Stevens.
Below: Sunday afternoon 2-4PM Entertainment Pine Creek Posse. I am unable to find a website for this band.
Bottom: audience watching Pine Creek Posse.
