We had been told 17 vehicles and 33 people and that they were due at 10AM, and they were right on time.
Above far left: our current Trustee President Jeanette Stevens telling the lead car
where to go. Above left: At first she walked alongside, but then the driver invited her to ride. Above right and
far right. Below far left: as she passed me Jeanette said "It has been a long time since I rode on a CAR running board."
Below left, right and far right: I took a picture of each car in line as it drove in.
Above far left, left and right: I counted eight Packards. But there were about a like number of modern cars,
Packard Club Members who were not driving their Packards, so I think our visitor count was around 33. Above
far right and below far left: even standing way over by our Weavers Building I could not get all of the cars in
one picture. Soon as they stopped all the occupants asked directions to our closest rest room. Jeanette pointed
out all of our restrooms and groups drifted towards all of them. Below left and right: This was the scout car that
arrived perhaps 30 minutes before the rest.
Ours was the last event of a September 20-25
Packard International San Diego gathering titled
Packards in Paradise --
this is a three page 2,110.72 kb PDF file. Below far right: Ernie Walker told me later that this 1935 Packard Limo has a
V-12 engine.
Above left and right: Our President and theirs. Jeanette Stevens on the left, Don Hull, President Packard International,
right. Above far right: quoting Jeanette: "AGSEM member Steve Ross, Secretary/Treasurer - San Diego Region Packard International and Tour
Master for day trip to Antique Gas and Steam Engine Museum. Steve and his wife Carol arrived in a 1939 Super 8.
I rode on running board coming in. Steve, a certified Flower Fields tractor driver,
drove one of our 1950 Case tractors pulling our yellow wagon for a ride around our Museum grounds." Below far left:
Jeanette hands out packets to each visitor. They contain a welcoming letter from Jeanette, our
October Show flyer with
our October Show Registration form on the reverse. A Complimentary Gate Pass for our October Show. Two pages detailing our
2008 events, a Musuem Visitors Guide, and a Museum key chain.
Below right: alighting in front of our Farm House and far right: in our Farm House
Above far left, left and right: in our Club House serving our visitors a piece of pie.
Again quoting Jeanette: "Thank you to Bob and Sally Morley for baking pies and having drinks available. Thank
you too, to Bill Rafnel, who gave a demonstration and a very informative tour of our Weavers
Building Other Presidents that were in the group touring AGSEM: Jay Johnson, President - Southern California
Region Packards International. Mike Burnside, President - San Diego Region Packard International."
Above far right and below: in our Weavers Building. That is our Chief Weaver Bill Rafnel tan ball cap, stripe
shirt, white shorts. Below far right: all of our Big Shots in one place, left: Bob Morley, Vice President. Rod
Groenewold, our Director, center. Jeanette Stevens, our President, right.
