Museum Weavers

Beginning more than 15 years ago with a single loom donation the Museum Weavers are dedicated individuals who help one another learn the art of weaving and spinning. Under the tutelage of Bill Rafnel, a master weaver for over 35 years, the group was able to raise half the money to build the Weavers Barn from the sale of rag rugs that member made using Museum looms, cash doantions as well as a grant from the County of San Diego. In June 2007 the 4,000 square foot Weaving Barn had its official grand opening and now houses over 50 different loom for exhibit and use. Currently the Museum Weavers meet every Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. & most Saturdays.
