Mike Churchill. Not pictured: Bill Rafnel, Kent Graham and Harold Davis.
Among other projects being worked April 6, 7, 8 was moving our Museum Weavers into their
new home. Below left and right: Bob Morley, left, and Travis Durst roll out the last of our looms stored in our Club House
attic.
Above and below: Dar Jewell forks the loom, then carries it across the street to our new weavers building.
A red letter day! Patricia Pollard Final inspection is scheduled for next week. The concrete pad has been poured, cured and is
ready for use. All the signage is in place -- occupancy = 130, "doors to be unlocked during business hours", handicap restroom.
Patrick Myers and Keith Richards have been doing the final touch-ups. Gary Pollard put the first coat of paint on the
areas above the restroom door and where the restroom sink had been relocated. Final coat to be applied next Thursday.
Bill Rafnel and Gary washed the 4000 square foot floor. Whew! Hope that doesn't need to be done too often.
Our looms and "stuff" were moved on Saturday, April 7th, as part of a Bob Morley work weekend. What a mess in the old
clubhouse. We tossed out boxes of magazines and yarn ruined by mice and water. Lou Schweizer was going crazy trying to
keep everything organized while more than a dozen people brought boxes of rags for weaving, yarn, and accessories from
our old Clubhouse.
I can't name all the people that helped with this huge task. There was the usual work crew, Sharon Martin,
Sally Morley, Keith, Bob Morley (boss / organizer / worker bee), Dar Jewell (forklift operator extraordinaire) and many others.
Weavers were Benva St. Morris, Bill, Gary, and I. Bill & Gary hung bird-scaring balloons and some fake owls in our new abode.
Birds have taken up residence. Not a good thing since the museum board wants our looms to be on display at all times
without the covers. You can imagine what a mess the birds are making.
Ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for June 16th
at 11 a.m. We have a big job ahead to organize everything. At least the building looks like a museum. Most of our looms
are in the building. We still have a few more in our California barn which will be a challenge to move. Now all we need is
more weavers.
