September 25, 2007 Bill Rafnel speaks to
Packard Motor Car Club members

Show Days went well for the Weavers with the exception of the last week end with fewer people and sales due to the fires. Even so, we made a little over half the amount we usually sell. Lately we've been adding a number of looms to our collection as well as new members.

Our latest loom addition is an 1840 large Barn Loom in excellent condition donated by new member, Karen Greely. Karen and her family helped put the loom together at the barn. This is a beautiful loom and it comes with a former owner's letter and other documentation. Karen plans to warp the loom soon and weave off some rag rugs.

Then last month Gale Nehrig from Idaho donated and delivered her air-assist-AVL Loom with 24 harnesses. Keith Richards, Lou Schweizer and Lenny Kuszmaul built Gale's loom piece by piece and assembled all of the air equipment and Lenny donated a laptop computer to run the program. Thanks Lenny! We'll eventually pipe air from the compressor next door to help run the loom. Wanda Eddleman can't wait to warp it up and weave away. Our thanks to Keith, Lou, and Lenny as well as Karen and her husband and family for assembling the looms.

Then, in keeping with our goals, to become a weaving center for Southern California, we hosted the Palomar Handweavers Guild's class on the "Shadow Weave" structure November 12, 13, and 14. Everyone enjoyed the class and our "beautiful building".
