Message from the President’s Corner…..
Jeanette Stevens

WOW! It’s hard to believe that it is show time once again. Looking forward to seeing everyone in October.

Thank you to all who participated, from displaying an exhibit to volunteering in a food booth at the June show. Many first time exhibitors, in June, joined our membership. I would like to extend an invitation to those not currently a member to join our membership. It’s a great way to really get to know others and also support our Museum. Stop by the Membership Booth to join or renew.

The October show should prove to another fun and exciting time. There will many large groups exhibiting in October. They include, EDGT&A Branch 22, Antique Auto Club, Antique Fire Trucks, IH Chapter 14, and more. Please be respectful of reserved areas, as members and other exhibitors have sent in Show Registration forms to let us know where they would like to display and how large of an area they will need.

If you have not sent in your registration form, do so as soon as possible. We are in the process of putting together Displayer Packets, and would like to have one made ahead of time for you. Also, since we are having large groups, who want to display together, we are asking that motorhomes/campers please park in the campground area. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

As the year is ending, the nominating committee is starting to focus on forming a slate to fill the vacancies that will occur on our Board of Trustees next year due to term limits. If you would like to become a candidate, please contact Jeanette Stevens at

We are also looking for Office Volunteers that could commit to a set schedule. Say one day every week or certain days of a month. The main goal here is to have someone greet visitors stopping by our Museum for a self- tour, or even renew a membership. Ashley and Rod will also be in the office to help answer questions. Training will be provided. Contact Jeanette, Rod or Ashley if you are interested in helping out. A friendly hello to welcome visitors and members is always appreciated.

Many club members have sent me good and positive suggestions to help improve our shows and other activities within the Museum. We have implemented some already. Please continue to send them via e-mail, phone, or drop off in our pink suggestion box in the office. Your input is invaluable. We are all in this together and together we can make a difference.

Our next board meeting will be November 17th. The meetings begin at 9:00 AM. You are encouraged and invited to attend the monthly board meetings. Your ideas and input are greatly appreciated. If you would like to address the Board of Trustees on a matter that concerns you, or plan an event at our museum, etc, please contact me
or Museum Director, Rod Groenewold at least ten (10) days prior to the next scheduled board meeting to be placed on the agenda.

See you at the Show!

IT’S SHOWTIME!! The signs are up at the main entrance, announcing coming events, along with the “Fall Harvest Fair” banners inviting all to come and enjoy our show. Your show committee has been working on the finishing touches and looking forward to another exciting and FUN Show.

We are featuring Hi-Crop tractors. They have been incorporated in the new show logo. Stop by the gift shop to get your Fall Show T-Shirt. The T-Shirts will be natural in color with a full color logo on the back and a new Museum logo above the front pocket. Look for new fall logo in this edition. Show buttons will also be available. Show T-Shirts will be offered for sale once again at special pricing at the Friday Hot Dog Dinner nights.

The Assembly Building will transform to an Exhibit Hall for a Quilt and Art Show. If you have a quilt you would like to exhibit please contact Jeanette. The Art Exhibit will be from the work of
GPA students. Also on exhibit will be the Poway Station All Scale Model Railroad display. There will be demonstrations on how to do scenery on a model railroad layout and working on modules.

We will be featuring our “Heritage Area” on the grass area near the stage again. Make pottery with an Indian Potter, maybe a jump rope or lariat with the ropemaker, watch a flint napper or see how pine needle baskets are made in front of an authentic teepee. Kids can even “strike it rich” panning for gold.

The Friday nights (October 19th & October 26th) before the show weekends we will be having a FREE Hot Dog Dinner for all exhibitors, crafters, campers, etc. A Hot Dog Dinner information flyer will be in your packets. The FREE Hot Dog Dinner will be from 4:30pm–7:30pm. Mike Stevens will be making homemade ice cream again. Come and join us for this great get together before show days.

Thank you to those members that have taken Show flyers to pass around to their friends and neighbors. We have included the Fall Harvest Fair flyer in this issue of the Ignitor. Please feel free to make as many copies as you would like, so you can advertise the Show in your area. We are offering show specials too!! See flyer for more details on specials, admission prices, and entertainment. Look for the Show Program in this issue for the complete listings of schedule of events.

Don’t miss coming to the Potluck on Saturday, October 27th. The Potluck will be open to all exhibitors and campers. We are having a Fifties Theme, so come dressed in your favorite fifties garb. Girls get your poodle skirts out! Live entertainment will be “The Corvettes” performing from 5:30pm–8:30pm on stage outside the Farmhouse. They are Southern California’s most authentic Doo Wop and Motown show band. The Corvettes are a six-piece rock and roll band celebrating music from the 50’s to early 70’s. We are going to have good food, good music and a good time!!

See you in October!
