On Saturday, September 1…
Toni, Amanda & Alyssa Fraser and Danielle Foos…spent the day at the Museum baking
Sorghum Cookies (11 batches total) for samples to be provided at the upcoming Fall Harvest Fair in October.
Thank You for a second year of memorable fun making these cookies. Again the girls were very creative and even came
up with a thin, crisp wafer…along with many other unusual designs.
These sample cookies will be available at the Missouri Sorghum Company Booth along with sample tasting of the
sorghum syrup. Pint & half-pint jars of the Sorghum Syrup from last year’s crop will be offered as souvenir
as well, along with recipes. Please plan to stop by on Saturdays! (These will then be available at the Plant Stand on Sundays.)
Keith Richards (The Sorghum King) oversees growing the sorghum cane on our Museum grounds. The cane is harvested
on Thursday & Fridays before the Fair; then demonstrations of pressing the cane & boiling the juice to syrup are
done on Saturdays during the Fair at the Missouri Sorghum Company Booth.
HELP NEEDED…to strip leaves off sorghum cane on Thursdays & Fridays before the October Harvest Fair.
If available and/or interested, just show up at the sorghum field!!!
CORN CROP!!!
Keith Richards planted ornamental corn this year…and apparently the conditions were just right
because the stalks grew to incredible heights – 8 feet or more!
