Museum Weavers Loom Barn
to Open June 16, 2007
Bill Rafnel

AGSEM Board of Trustees is happy to announce that the long-awaited Museum Weavers Loom Barn will open to the public with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 16, 2007. Under the guidance of Bill Rafnel, weavers at AGSEM have spent the last 21 years creating a unique collection of hand -and foot -powered looms. During show days, Museum Weavers will demonstrate several of the working looms, including the creation of rag rugs, jump ropes, and other fabrics. Expert spinners will also show how wool is spun into thread.

The purpose of Museum Weavers is to:
- Collect, store and maintain handweaving looms, materials and equipment
- Teach weaving and spinning to adults and children
- Become a teaching center for southern California handweavers
- Include workshops and shows with display space for members and guest artists
- Conduct tours and teaching events
- Hold weaving conferences
