BEAUTIFICATION (AKA Work Party) Sharon Martin Friday, April 6, started with Bob Morley leaving us for the Flower Fields.
Joe Conley was dispatched to the hill to bundle PVC. Ken MacChesney went up the hill to pull equipment back onto our
property (did anybody see it move over our line?). Fernando Acuna, Harold Davis, Harry Wessels and Sharon Martin
tore down the dead Bougainvillea and weeds at the windmill. Meanwhile Guy Horton started making cement “hills” to go
around the water shut off valves near the assembly building. Fernando Acuna and Harold Davis picked up trash around
the ticket booth. Ernie Walker and Rudy Dremely were working on the new hay wagon for the Flower Fields. At the same time,
Keith Richards and Pat Meyers were busy at the Weavers Building. Bob Swaim was busy with another cart that was out of
commission and Alice Swaim was busy hitting those weeds with Round Up. I’ll bet Cecil Morton and Guy Horton had fun
climbing on the roof of the Club and Museum buildings to clean and lube the turbines.
Bob Morely came back in time for lunch and called for a crew to pull stuff down from the Club Building loft
(just one section) that belonged to the Weavers. Fernando Acuna, Harold Davis, Sharon Martin, Harry Wessels, Joe Conley,
Ken MacChesney and Richard Green made up Bob’s crew. That stuff looked like it had been there a hundred years what
with all the dust. Bob said tomorrow we move the Weavers into their new building.
After lunch I saw Dar Jewell and grandson Travis Durst working on the hay wagon. Bob Morley, Richard Green and Harry
Wessels went out to the front gate to clean up trash and weeds. Sharon Martin went over to clean around the fire pit
and stack wood. Saturday, April 6, moving day!!!! The following people helped clean, load, carry, place and
just plain move weaving equipment, looms, material, sewing machines, etc. to our
new Weavers Building. Charles Daugherty, Harold Davis, Bob Morley, Sharon Martin, Dar Jewell, Ken MacChesney,
Bob Koppenhoefer, Bobby Koppenhoefer, Travis Durst, Les Corson, Gil Stuart, Lou Schweizer, Gary Pollard,
Patricia Pollard, Benva St Morris, Bill Rafnel, Patrick Meyers. Harold Davis left the moving crew to go drive
at the Flower Fields. Meanwhile Debbie and Dylan Koppenhoefer were helping Ashley move boxes in the office.
Kent Graham was cleaning up around Steam Engine Row, while Rudy Dremely was working on installing brakes on the hay wagon.
Bob Koppenhoefer left the moving crew to make bolt boxes (per B.M. request) for the pallet racks in the storage area.
While the moving was going on Keith Richards, Alice Swaim and Sally Morley were busy working on lunch.
After lunch Chuck Alee was seen painting the hay wagon. Bob Morley led Bob Koppenhoefer, Dale White, Les Corson and
Dylan Koppenhoefer to the bleachers to help put the sunshades back over the bleachers. Guy Horton finished his cement
work around the water shut off valves and then built a mound around the drainage spout at the end of the machine shop.
While we were busy moving, Jeanette and Mike Stevens were digging postholes up at the entrance for new signage.
Mike Churchill came down to say hello. Good to see you up and around Mike. Sally and Phil Green also came down to help.
Greg Hayden came in to take the “Saturday Work party crew” picture. We were one tired bunch.
Sunday, April 7, was a quiet day. Bob, Bobby and Dylan Koppenhoefer, Rudy Dremely, Bob Morley, Richard Green,
Sharon Martin and Keith Richards helped set poles at the front gate. These poles will hold banners of our coming events.
Bill Rafnel, Jeanne Lavoie, Ron Fitzgeral and Jacob Lavoie were busy moving in and reassembling one of Bill’s looms
in the Weavers Building. THANKS TO ALL WHO HELPED!!! A special thanks to the Koppenhoefer family. They live in Las
Vegas and missed the October show and decided to come over for Work Party Weekend. And they didn’t even get a phone call!!!
Reminder, next work party will be JUNE 1, 2 and 3. We will be working on getting our grounds cleaned up and things set
up for our June shows. SO! Come on down and have some (extra) fun.
