Hi Folks! It's Showtime! Things are really picking up, as we get ready for our best show ever. If our events so far this year are any indication, we're set for a record year. Board President, Jeanette Stevens has been coming up with lots of great ideas to make our show more fun for everyone. Make sure to get your show registration in so we can get a count for our free hotdog dinner on Friday before the show. Just click on image to the right. |

Pat Myers and crew are getting the walls up for our new machine shop which will allow us to clean out the equipment stored in our California Barn. The barn is slated to house our collection of wagons and buggies, many of which haven’t been on exhibit for quite sometime. There’s a lot to do so any extra help before show would be greatly appreciated.
We’re making great progress on our other construction projects as well. Member, John Sigurdson has completed and presented drawings for our updated playground, to be funded with last years TOT Grant from the County of San Diego.
Our new kitchen should be framed in by show time and be ready to go for events later in the season. See the notice in this issue for the Weaver’s Building dedication and stop by to see their new digs. When you step back and take a look, it’s amazing what we’ve accomplished with your hard work and support!
Good for Us!! Our partnership with Guajome Park Academy has paid off again in statewide and national recognition. In April, GPA was eligible to compete in 3 of 5 statewide award categories for charter school excellence. They won all three awards, one of which was for business and community partnerships based on their close working relationship with our Museum and the City of Vista. That award made us eligible for a national award which we will be presented in Washington D.C. on May 16th. I’ve been invited to attend and look forward to bragging us up on a national level.

Speaking of being gone. You may notice some staff changes this show. Ashley will be out on maternity leave through the first part of July and I've been scheduled for back surgery and will be out as well. Ouch! This'll be the first show I've missed in 15 years. Since Ashley and I will be gone, consignments for our July 29, 2007 Auction will NOT be accepted BEFORE July 9, 2007. I hope you'll join me in welcoming Christie Landtroop to our staff. Christie's quickly getting up to speed in the office and with lots of help from our board members; I'm confidant we've got everything well covered. Have a great show and I'll look forward to seeing you all soon. Sincerely; |
