We have reached the turning point in the Road Roller restoration. Re-assembly of the major parts
is in progress! All the repair work is done. The Engine, Crankshaft and all the Valve linkage
will be installed by the time you are reading this.
Robert Richardson has the rear wheels and
will have them prepped for paint shortly. With luck they will be painted and installed by the
3rd weekend in August. That leaves only the water tanks. Scott Higgins has them torn down and
new sheet metal is being formed for new tanks now. Things are really moving along now! We are
getting close enough to finishing that I can almost smell the steam now!
Nick found a source of wood to keep us going this last show. Nick, Alex and Robert retrieved it
and delivered it the museum. Thanks Guys.
Now I need to correct an error I made in the last Ignitor. I reported that the BEST 110 traction
engine at the
BSOT Show was owned by Fred Hedrick. That is not correct. It is actually owned by Jo Hedrick!
I truly missed participating in our show here at Vista but I could not pass up an
invitation to be engineer on the rare BEST 110 traction engine. Long time Steam team member
Jim McIntire came up as my fireman. Here is a picture -- below -- Jim standing with the Best 110.
It is quite a machine! Photo by Dean Alling.
