Message from the President
Jeanette Stevens

It’s hard to believe that our June show is just around the corner. I am looking forward to visiting with everyone and seeing all the wonderful displays. The 2008 California Blacksmith Association Spring Conference was a huge success. Blacksmiths came from all over the world. Thank you Dave Vogel and crew for all your hard work. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.

A big THANK YOU goes to the kitchen crew for the days before and during the conference. This was a great way to break in our new commercial kitchen in our Assembly building. Thank you to Myrna Bagge, Tom Bakalar, Suzanne Bentley, George Bohn, Mike Churchill, Rudy Dremely, Jim Goode, Sally Green, Jerry Hass, Joan & John Hollenitsch, Forrest & Guy Horton, Dar & Bev Jewell, Betty Keylon, Paul Kuns, Jack Lester, Bob Morley, Patrick Myers, Chet Rapenport, Keith Richards, Irene Sterns, Mike Stevens, Bob and Alice Swain. As always, the food was delicious. There were many compliments given to the Chefs and volunteers who put in many hours preparing, serving and cleaning.

(Our above Volunteers served a 5PM Thursday dinner. 7AM breakfast, 12 noon lunch and 5PM dinner Friday and Saturday, breakfast and lunch Sunday.)

AGSEM will have a display at the 2008 San Diego County Fair. The Fair dates are June 14th – July 6th. We will be exhibiting in the Flower and Garden Show. Look for the “green tractor” just outside the east side of the Bing Crosby Hall. Thank you to Steve and Carol Stipp for helping with the design and setting up of the display.

Events coming up are Civil War (July 5th & 6th), Auction (July 27th), Bob Morley Work Weekend (August 1st- 3rd), and Summergrass (August 22nd- 24th). With all these events coming up we sure could use help getting things organized, working at, and cleaning up after the events. It is a great way to meet other members and have fun too.

If you would like to volunteer to help at the shows, events, and with displays off the museum grounds, please contact me

As a reminder, please contact Ashley, by August 11th to be added to the Summergrass volunteer list.

If you are attending an event, or part of another group, stop by the office and pick up show flyers, registration and camping forms, or museum information to take with you to invite others to visit us.

You are encouraged and invited to attend our monthly board meetings. Your ideas and input are greatly appreciated. If you would like to address the Board of Trustees on a matter that concerns you, or plan an event at our museum, etc., please contact me or Museum Director, Rod Groenewold at at least ten (10) days prior to the next scheduled board meeting to be placed on the agenda.

Thank you again for your participation to continue the successful ways of our Museum.
