Dar Jewell April 2002
BBQ Pit
Dar Jewell
Hey, another year of Shows has passed. Where did the time go? This year concludes 8 years since Hal and I
took over the Pit. Bev said it is 10 but I think it is only 8. And to that note, I want to give a special
thanks to Sally Harbert. Sally was the person selling tickets for the outside BBQ.
When asked if she would
help out she said yes and brought with her two sisters, a sister-in-law, and a good friend. Sally, Sue
Fredrickson. Sandy Jewell, Marilyn Lupold, and Marilyn Lutes get a special thank you and a pat on the
back for the help and dedication they gave Hal and I and the Museum.
Well, heck, it seems we can not have an
event without Mother Nature knocking us. Bluegrass it was a much needed rain and this time it was the wildfires.
Ken Jewell and I get to the B.B.Q. about 6:30 AM and as we are getting the fires going we see campers pulling
out of the campground and they are leaving in droves. I knew our Show was not that bad and about an hour later
I learned about the fires.
I could only pray that all those who left did not have homes in danger. We were working
quite short handed this Show but we made it. I want to give a thank you to my relatives from Santee and Lakeside
who came in to help me pull it out and also to the Weavers and N gauge railroaders who jumped in.
Thanks to the
following; Jim Krater, Bob Morley, Terry Lupold, Dave Carroll, Cheryl Durst, Bev Jewell, Ken Jewell, Craig
Fredrickson, John Sigordson, Milt Perkins, Lou Schweizer, Donna Beers, Nina Durst, Bill Browning, Karron
Browning, Rick Phillips, Tracy Phillips and Betty Gunther.
All the food booths ran short on help this show and I
know there are a lot of our members who would enjoy giving even an hour of their time to help out. Step up and feel better.
Speed Limit
Dar Jewell
The speed limit is still 15 mph on our grounds. I know there are some of you with a long way to go to the back
of our grounds but it will only take a few seconds longer if you slow down. Thank you!!!
Assembly Building
Dar Jewell
When you come to our General Meeting January 19, 2008, please notice the new walls on each side of the room.
AGAIN Boy Scouts have come through for our Museum. Scout Karl Stange of Troop 726, with help from his Troop,
completed the walls; so now the insulation can not be punctured with pencils or pens. We also have two other
pending projects to be completed by Scouts working on their Eagle Projects. Thank You to all the persons who
helped Karl with this very worthwhile project.
