Dar Jewell April 2002
BBQ Pit
Dar Jewell
Another event come and gone. This year was the best Summergrass we have had at the Pit. Saturday was a real banger
and then Sunday we almost got washed away in the morning. The mud was so deep and wide people could not get to the
window.
THEN, a gentleman known as Virgil White brought loads of wood chips and Kent Graham spread it and worked
it into the mud. A big thank you to both of them. We were working very short on help and up stepped our
President Jeanette Stevens. Yes fellow members, this president does work. She started the day helping with breakfast,
and then finished the rest of the day in the Pit. All this along with doing her job.
This time I want to give a
special thanks to a very nice member who never lets us down, Lou Schweizer. Lou is a
Weaver who stepped up a long time ago and is always here to help. He has been our cashier from almost the start.
Again it is the good members of our Museum who make everything work in our food booths.
We had less help
this time which gave no-one a break. So I would like to give a big thank you to the following, Terry Lupold, Nia Durst,
Travis Durst, Bev Jewell, Eric McConnon, Ken Jewell, Nick Rose, Cheryl Durst, Lou Schwiezer, Jeanette Stevens, and
Bob Morley.
Many hands make light work and I know there are some of you out there who could give a couple of hours
to a food booth so others can have a break. Give it a try, you might even like it.
UPDATE: We will need help in the B.B.Q.Pit as Hal just had Knee surgery and will not make it. We can also use a
few women to help make the sandwiches. It's not hard and if you can give an hour or two to help out it will be
appreciated.
Food Service has been the most constant and largest contributor to the funds for our Museum and
we do it with minimum help. Please step up and give us all a hand. Thank you.
