It’s hard to believe that our June Show is just around the corner. I am looking forward to visiting with everyone and seeing all the wonderful displays. Many club members have sent me good and positive suggestions to help improve the shows and other activities within our Museum. We have implemented some already. Please continue to send them via e-mail, phone, or drop off in a suggestion box in the office.

Your input is invaluable. We are all in this together and together we can make a difference. Construction has started on the commercial kitchen in our Assembly Building. We are still in need of donations to purchase the kitchen equipment. The equipment will cost approximately $38,000. If you would like to contribute please drop off or send a check to AGSEM office. In the check memo, please write “Kitchen”. Thank you in advance for your contribution.

I will be attending the Vista Kiwanis Club Noon meeting on June 7th. They have asked me a give a presentation on the Antique Gas & Steam Engine Museum. This will be another great venue to promote our June Show as well as other upcoming events.

The San Diego County Fair in Del Mar will be opening June 8th and run through July 4th. Our Museum will be well represented in three (3) different areas of the Fair. Our Short Track “N” Scale Model Railroad will have an exhibit in one of the large exhibit buildings, a static museum display will be in the Pavilion Area and a large June Show poster will also be placed on the show grounds. What advertising for our Museum!

The Flower Fields have been very profitable for us this year. THANK YOU to all the volunteers who have given their time to make this so successful. Our next board meeting will be July 21st. The meetings begin at 9:00 AM. You are encouraged and invited to attend our monthly board meetings. Your ideas and input are greatly appreciated.

If you would like to address your Board of Trustees on a matter that concerns you, or plan an event at our museum, etc, please contact me or Museum Director, Rod Groenewold (email addresses above) at least ten (10) days prior to the next scheduled board meeting to be placed on the agenda. See you at our Show!!

SHOW!!

IT’S SHOWTIME!! Our new Museum signs (bottom of page) are up at our main entrance, announcing coming events, along with our “Spring Show” banners inviting all to come and enjoy our show.

Your show committee has been working on the finishing touches and looking forward to an exciting and FUN show. We are featuring our ca. 1918 Aultman-Taylor - four 2005 pictures. It has been incorporated in our new show logo. Stop by our gift shop to get your show T-Shirt. The T-Shirts will be ash gray with a full color logo on the back and the Museum logo above the front pocket. Show buttons will also be available. Ladies we will also have some pink T-Shirts with the John Deere logo.

Our Assembly Building will transform to an Exhibit Hall for a Quilt and Art Show. If you have a quilt you would like to exhibit please contact Jeanette. The Art Exhibit will be from the work of GPA students. Also on exhibit will be the Poway Station All Scale Model Railroad display with a switching layout, a hands on activity for kids.

Another new feature will be our “Heritage Area” on the grass area near the stage. Make pottery with an Indian Potter, maybe a jump rope or lariat with the rope maker, watch a flint napper or see how pine needle baskets are made in front of an authentic teepee. Kids can even “strike it rich” panning for gold.

Our Friday nights (June 15th & June 22nd) before the show weekends we will be having a FREE Hot Dog Dinner for all members, exhibitors, crafters, campers, etc. Hot Dog Dinner coupons will be in your packets. Our FREE Hot Dog Dinner will be from 4:30pm–7:30pm. Extra tickets will be available for those not receiving packets.

You’re getting a FREE Hot Dog Dinner!! Thank you to those members that have taken Show Flyers to pass around to their friends and neighbors. Please feel free to make as many copies as you would like, so you can advertise the Show in your area. We are offering show specials too!! See flyer for more details on specials, admission prices, and entertainment.

See our Show Program for our complete schedule of events. Don’t miss coming to our Potluck on Saturday, June 23rd. Our Potluck will be open to all members, exhibitors and campers. Live entertainment will be Nitro Express performing from 5:30pm – 8:30pm on stage outside our Farmhouse. In 1997 Nitro Express was awarded “Best Country Band” in San Diego at the San Diego Music Awards. We are going to have good food, good music and a good time!! See you in June!

FARMHOUSE
Jeanette Stevens

It’s summertime in our Farmhouse. The ladies are busy getting things ready for show. A crazy triangle quilt is our raffle quilt for 2007. Stop by and get your raffle tickets. The drawing will be held in October. Since I will be out and about most the show, I am asking for some extra volunteers to help Lois with selling quilt raffle tickets. Let me know if you would like to help out. We always have a fun time in our Farmhouse. Mike Stevens and his John Deere engine will be making ice cream once again on the porch. Get a scoop after the parade each show day. Looking forward to a great show.
