2006 June Show Betty and Joan passed out a questionnaire to our Show Exhibitors. The replies below were
published on pages 26 and 27 of our October 2006 The Ignitor.
To our Exhibitors
1. Name and address? Mike and Susan Melvin, Nikki Melvin, Shawn and Jessie Melvin; Buena Park, CA 90620
2. How long have you been exhibiting? Since 2004
3. What do you exhibit? McCormick Deering Orchard 1944 and 1947. McCormick Deering Cub 1948.
4. Tell us a brief story about yourself. Mike and Susie Melvin. We began restoring our first old tractor in
2003 and we caught the fever. Nikki Melvin is 15 and she loves to be in the parade and she is talking her Dad in
painting her a “pink” tractor. Our son Andy Melvin is 19 and is in the Army, currently stationed in Georgia.
Our son Shawn and new wife Jessie love tractors and they have a Wheel Horse garden tractor with a blade scoop on the front.

3. What do you exhibit? 1927 Rumley Oil Pull, 1950 John Deere B, 1941 Farmall AI. Five to seven, 1910 – 1930,
Hit and Miss engines.
4. Tell us a brief story about yourself. Vice President of R & D for Newport Medical Inst. Electronic Engineer.
Collecting for over 20 years. Three children Bill, 27; Kiri 24; Jeff 20; all grew up going to the Vista Show.

3. What do you exhibit? Engines and tractors.
4. Tell us a brief story about yourself. Wink is tall, dark, handsome, witty, charming (he told me to say that!)
Lovely, gorgeous Ginger is the apple of his eye! (he told me to say that too!) We always exhibit on the north side of
Gas Engine Row. Where most everyone knows each other – like one big happy family! Our motto is: “you are never too
old to have a happy childhood”!

2. How long have you been exhibiting? 31 years
3. What do you exhibit? Gas engines, tractors, model steam engines
4. Tell us a brief story about yourself. Retired school teacher after 37 years. First saw old engines at the
Pomona Fair in 1969. Concentrated on gas engines at first, then became interested in tractors (John Deere)
later went into steam engine models. Now have a little of each.

3. What do you exhibit? 1913 Model T Touring, Gas and Oil Memorabilia, Old Kitchen Items.
4. Tell us a brief story about yourself. Frank McCune is my uncle and he got us interested in coming to Vista
around 1982-83. We have been displaying our collections for about twenty years, still adding to them. It is
nice to be retired and able to spend more time at Vista. Our Grandchildren have great experiences with us for
years at the shows.
